Getting Close to the End

With only 5 league games, and a potential Champions League semi-final remaining Liverpool is seeing its season come to an end. Which is a good and a bad thing. Of course, not being able to watch Klopp’s men attack relentlessly every weekend will be sad. But, this is the year of the World Cup, in which quite a few Liverpool players will be taking part in. Another exciting aspect of the season coming to a close, is being able to see who Klopp brings in for next year, we already know Naby Keita will be coming to Anfield in June, but it seems that is not the only business we will be doing. With 5 league games remaining, Liverpool need 3 wins to secure a top four finish for the second year in a row, and ensure Champions League football for next year. In Europe, as of April 8th, Liverpool hold a 3-0 lead over Manchester City in the quarter finals of the Champions League before the second leg, in Manchester, this coming Wednesday.  Overall, it has been a fun season, with tons of excitement, sadness and everything in between. Hopefully next year, I will be writing about how we are close to clinching a few trophies.

Current State

As of March 11, Liverpool sits 4th in the English Premier League, 1 point behind third place Spurs, 5 points behind second place Manchester United and 4 points ahead of fifth place Chelsea. Without a complete collapse, Liverpool looks like they will secure Champions League football for next season. They are also now in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The squad is currently in good form without any major injuries. The only dilemma for the squad is the status of starting midfielder Emre Can’s contract situation, with 3 months left on his current deal, Can has the option to sign wherever he might choose come June, for free. Overall, the chances of Can staying, at the moment, seem slim but a great Champions League finish might have him thinking otherwise. lfc team
